Week of October 26 Big Ideas: adaptations, interactions, human impact Standards: 8.3.8, 8.3.9, 8.2.5, 8.2.6
Monday~ No School- Fall Break
Tuesday~ We will have a guest speaker (RCHS alumnus) from the National Park Service in class. We will learn about the organisms in Myrtle Beach State Park with a special emphasis on the variety of sea turtles that use the park in their life cycle. We will discuss the human impact on these populations. We will also discuss similarities and differences between the ecosystem at the park and the dunes ecosystem in Indiana.
Wednesday~ Students will add any organisms to their dunes mural that were observed at the dunes while on the Succession Trail. Students will also complete a summary check over the trip.
Thursday~ Students will watch a documentary on bats. Students will take notes over the video that will be turned in at the start of the next class. Students will use their choice of note taking method.
Friday~ Students will complete a station migration activity on an Indiana native species..... bats. Students will do a variety of activities related to the special adaptations that bats use to survive. There is a follow-up sheet that needs to be submitted via Edmodo at the end of the period.
