Week of January 4 Standards: 8.2.1, 8.2.5 Big Ideas: causes and effects of severe/extreme weather
****Update weather chart daily**** Monday- No School
Tuesday- Read and discuss Severe Weather packet in groups. Find main idea(s) in each storm passage and post on class charts around the room. As a class, we will discuss each type of severe weather event.
Wednesday- Finish reading packet from Monday. For Friday, students are to interview a parent, grandparent, teacher, etc. about an extreme/severe weather event that they experienced. This can be a thunderstorm, blizzard, hailstorm, etc. Ask them to describe the event, tell where and when it took place and how it impacted them. We will begin to work on vocabulary graphic organizers for the extreme weather list (on my website).
Thursday- We will continue to work our vocabulary graphic organizer. We will also take part in a vocabulary sorting activity.
Friday- Weather permitting, we will go to the outdoor lab to work on the winter segment of our seasons project. Students should be prepared to share their weather experience interviews in class.
